There is no satisfactory way I can accurately describe my feelings of sadness when we arrived at Ground Zero.
Thousands of people stood in respectful silence on all sides of the fenced-off site, which had been largely cleared.
Vendors were selling souvenirs, which strangely did not seem disrespectful or out of place.
Most people .. including myself .. wanted something to mark their visit, in addition to the many messages
that they were leaving on the fencing.
The loss of life had been truly horrific and when I looked up and around
at the empty space that had once been filled by the twin towers, the physical enormity of this catastrophe also really took hold.
I will let the pictures 'speak' for themselves.
